Ammo rack
Ammunition rack (module)
Module storing your shells — if destroyed, your tank explodes.
What it means
Every tank has an ammo rack module that stores ammunition. When the rack takes enough cumulative damage, it 'detonates' — instantly destroying your tank regardless of remaining hit points. This is the dreaded 'ammo rack explosion.'
Where it's located
Usually in the lower hull or turret rear, varies per tank. Some tanks (T-34-85, IS-3) have notoriously vulnerable ammo racks; others (Maus, Type 5) have ammo placed deep inside thick armor.
Damage threshold
Ammo rack damage is cumulative. First hit damages it (orange icon). Second or third damage may detonate. 'Safe Stowage' crew skill + 'Wet Ammo Rack' equipment increase the threshold.
Example
Why it matters
Ammo racks are one-shot mechanics. A 100% HP tank can die in one shell if the rack detonates. Always equip Wet Ammo Rack on tanks with vulnerable racks.
